Trio Kobayashi

Founded in 2008 to perform the music of Wolfgang von Schweinitz, Trio Kobayashi has gone on to explore a wide repertoire stretching from vocal music of the renaissance to the game music of Iannis Xenakis. Kobayashi continues to explore the possibilities of its instrumentation through collaborations with living composers such as Marc Sabat, Larry Polansky, Nicholas Deyoe, Ulrich Krieger, Mark Trayle, and Jürg Frey.

The trio has performed on RedCat’s “New Music After Grisey,” “Considering Wagner,” and “CEAIT Xenakis: Now and Tomorrow” festivals. Additionally, Kobayashi has presented concerts for Los Angeles MicroFest, as well as UC San Diego, the wulf, and Machine Project. The trio has presented a guest lecture at CalArts and is currently completing a residency at UCSD. Trio Kobayashi has recorded the music of Marc Sabat [Plainsound Editions], Mark Trayle and John Cage [Mode Records]. The ensemble has upcoming recording projects with Ulrich Krieger, Wolfgang von Schweinitz, and the graduate composition students of UCSD.
Trio Kobayashi is Zara Teicher [french horn], Matt Barbier [trombone] and Luke Storm [tuba].
