Dom Magwili and Sachiko

Dom Magwili and Sachiko are veterans of stage, TV and movies. They have taught acting classes at the East West Players Summer Conservatory, lectured about Asian American Theatre at UCLA, and created the holiday musical play, A Jive Bomber’s Christmas (scheduled to be produced in Hawaii 2011). They were co-creators of the independent film, Much Adobo about Nothing, which was nominated Outstanding Film for 2000 by A Magazine (founded in 1989; A Magazine covers Asian American issues and culture). They have directed UCLA’s Samahang Pilipino Cultural Nights for 20 years. They toured across the United States and Hawaii with their Concert of Asian Americana.

Sachiko had a lead role in the first Asian American dramatic feature film, Hito Hata; with Mako, Pat Morita, and Hiroshi Kashiwagi. She received raves for Mrs. Park in the Lodestone’s production, The Golden Hour. She has worked with such stars as Alan Alda, James Garner, Nicole Kidman, Julianna Moore, and Kim Basinger. For 8 years Sachiko has been a licensed practitioner of Qigong.

Dom has been teaching acting since 1976. His acting class, The Acting Dojo, is on-going. This Fall he will also teach Scene Study at EWP. Dom returned to school in 2006, graduating with an MFA in Acting in 2008. He is currently directing a webisode entitled, The Ho’s of 7th Street.
